DNS Issue

I have installed Big Sur on my iMac and I have found the DNS is not performing properly, especially with my VPN. So, on advice from my VPN provider, I changed the DNS settings and it solved the problem - much faster and stable connection. However, within hours, it slowed down again and I checked the DNS only to find that all the DNS servers I had input had vanished and the old ones had returned. This keeps happening. Has anyone any ideas why or how I can fix that?

I have never used a VPN personally, so I don't have many suggestions. I have seen a lot of reports of VPN issues with Big Sur.

Maybe another member here will have some suggestions, or you can always continue working with your VPN provider.

Not sure if this will help. and its just a thought but have you tried flushing the DNS cache, if not and to save me a long post have a look here.
