Dictation

I have this useful feature on my new macbook bought 5 months ago, and of course by now I am dpdpnedent n nit andn have forgotten hiw twon tipe.

The other day all of a sudden, the receiver seemed to work and jump around the same way as before in response to anything I say - but it produced no text. I fiddled with Dictation in Edit, don't know what I did, eventually it came back.

For a few days. Now has gone again, and I can't get it back. Switched computer and dication on and off.

Any likely cause and remedy?

I've seen that what doesn't work is enhanced dictation. Non-enhanced dictation works. Up to now I have only ever used enhanced dictation.
