I am on Catalina on an MB 2013. I cannot drop jpegs into the Mac bin from an external Seagate drive connected to MB on a USB port; what tends to happen is this:- I try to drag a file/pic & drop it into the bin It then flies back to the Seagate. If, I pull the file out of the Seagate and move it on to the desktop (This works) but then move it to delete over the bin -this time it goes into the bin; but again a copy is left on the desk top. Really need help I only want to delete certain files but not all (Seagate is not PW protected

Hello.

Which model is the Seagate?

I would look at the formatting and permissions of the Seagate. If it is formatted as Master Boot Record/FAT/etc., that can cause some file management issues. Strange that it leaves a copy on the Desktop, when moving a file to the Trash. That could be a trackpad or keyboard setting in Preferences.
