Deleting FaceBook chats in a specific period

Dear, all,

I use FaceBook on an iPhone 6s Plus with iOS 14.4.1 and need cleaning up to enable the 14.5.1 update.
Amongst others I want to clean up the Chats in FaceBook and I would like to do that period by period or year by year.
I do not succeed defining a suitable period, It looks as if I can only define single dates. (This seems to be different from if you use a Mac, by the way).
Somebody has a good advice?

I don't use Facebook very much, and only on my Mac. I don't believe there is a way to delete Facebook Chats by custom period in the iOS app.

Other things that take a lot of space on an iPhone are video/music/apps themselves/Messages attachments/etc. Do you have a backup of your iPhone - in iCloud or on a computer?

C
