deleting an itunes account

I have an imac (2008) that was given to me, but was not wiped completely clean.
I have created my own itunes acc. and seemed to have synched it to my iphone 5s ( recently downloaded music is now on the phone ) But after downloading some of my own music onto the imac, when I attempted to transfer / synch that music, message popped up saying my phone was synched to an existing itunes acc. ( previous owner ) and seemed to offer only possibility to delete my acc. and tranfer to other - not the other way around which I obviously would want.
Any ideas ?

Check which iTunes account is active … I know you wrote you created your own but just check anyway.

Thanks for the reply. Did not figure out ac. issue, but the Ludite clicked around and found the (easy) method to transfer my cd s onto phone.
