Content of burn folder differs from that in desktop folder.

Twenty PDF documents numbered from 1 to 20 in a desktop folder. When opened together (ganged) they appear in correct sequence, 1 to 20, but when transferred to a burn folder they open in a jumbled sequence, always the same, without any detectable pattern.
Suggestions, please?

Hello and welcome,

-How are they arranged in the Finder window - by icon, list, columns?
-Does changing the sort value (View > Arrange By) help at all?
