I recently got a Philips BDM4037U 4K 60hz (https://www.usa.philips.com/c-p/BDM...k-ultra-hd-lcd-display-with-multiview/support) screen which I use at work with my 2018 MacBook Pro 15 Inch (Radeon Pro 560X).

I am connecting to the screen using the following adapter and HDMI:

Adapter: https://www.apple.com/dk/shop/produ...-dk-kwgo-pla-btb--slid---product-MUF82ZM/A-DK

HDMI Cable: https://www.lindy.co.uk/cables-adap...07/2m-high-speed-hdmi-cable-black-line-p11145

To my knowledge, all of the above components are rated for running the display in 4K (3840 x 2160) 60Hz, however when connecting the screen its OSD informs me that I am only running 3840 x 2160 30Hz instead of 60Hz. In settings, I can only select 60Hz if i lower the resolution to 1080P. When the 3840 x 2160 setting is selected, I do however have two instances of 30Hz i can select between on the list, which behave identical when pressed.

Things i have tried:

- Connecting the adapter to all 4 ports.
- Rebooting.
- Checked if the OSD has any options that might be locking the resolution.
- Checked that the HDMI 2.0 port is used on the screen
- Tried the 1.4 HDMI just to see what happened #same result.
- Tried HDMI to DisplayPort.. no picture at all.
- Tried different HDMI cable.
- Tried a colleagues mac with the same specs + a 13 inch model.

Any suggestions on what might be wrong? Thanks.

Hello and welcome.

Sorry we didn't get a reply to you. Glad you found a solution. Yes, the USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter is listed as only supporting:

3840x2160 at 60Hz on:
iPad Pro 11-inch, iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd Generation), MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2017 and later), iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017 and later), iMac (Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, 2017 and later), and iMac Pro (2018)

1080p at 60Hz or UHD (3840 by 2160) at 30Hz on:
MacBook Air (2018), MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016 and later), MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2016), iMac (non-Retina, 21.5‑inch, 2017), and Mac mini (2018)

Not sure why your 15-inch didn't work, as it states it should. Maybe it was the HDMI cable after all - some inexpensive cables that state they are high-speed can still not be compatible. But, I assume the same cable worked with the USB-C to DisplayPort adapter, so who knows? ;)

Thanks for posting the resolution to the issue, as it may benefit others in the future.
