Basically about a week ago i downloaded a developer preview of lion and installed. I didn't like it so i downgraded back to leopard using my installation disc then updated to 10.6.8.

However now certain apps wont work. itunes will not work and i get the error shown below (there are also some binary images i haven't posted) and i get a similar error for ical.

And when trying to open certain things in system preferences like 'desktop and screensaver' it stops responding.

Also when trying to use appstore i get this error:

You have Mac*OS*X 10.6.8. The application requires Mac*OS*X 10.7 or later.

I have no doubt this is to do with me downloading the preview and infact some of the apps that come with the preview like facetime still exist in the app folder but with the crossed out circle over them. I have tried deleting and reinstalling apps that dont work but same error exists

Thanks for any help.

To go back, like that, you'll have to do a clean install. Lion changed a lot more software than just the OS, and the data files of many of the Apps changed too, like iCal.

Not a good move.

My advise would be to buy Lion and see if that sorts the problems, hopefully that way you'll retain the content.

By clean install do you mean wiping the HD then reinstalling?

Money is tight atm but ill guess ill just buy lion when i can (yes even $29.99 is a lot atm!).

If you want to go back to Snow, that will be a reformat your drive a full clean install.

I'd make a disk image on an external drive, of your current User Space. Do the clean install, run all the updates from Software Update.

Then move your content across App by App check that it still works, if not see if there is some sort of Export and a corresponding Import, a big job!

If your files aren't worth $30 then just go for it.

OK well currently it says i am running OS 10.6.8 but clearly it is not. I'll see if i can land my hands on an external hd.

Im guessing if i pay for and dl the full version of lion it will hopefully fix everything so i may just do this when i can.
