Cisco console cable

I am doing gigs that call for using the Cisco console cable to USB adaptor to configure various routers and switches. I have purchased a USB-C to serial adaptor and have wired an RS 232 male to an RJ 45 plug. On my MBP 2019, 13" I have loaded OS 10.14.6 and BootCamp running Win 10. On the Mac using CoolTerm and Network set to USB serial controller D, I can never get any thing to show. The only serial device I have, out of tons of old gear, is Garmin GPS circa 1997. With batteries it will power up but I get nothing on the screen in CoolTerm. With Win 10 in BootCamp it can't find the Comm port in PUTTY.
Has anyone worked with this stuff and have a reliable solution?

Hello,

Unfortunately, that is beyond my experience level and I haven't used any of those software applications.

Maybe someone here with networking experience will chime in, or maybe there is a forum somewhere where you could get support.

Sorry,

C
