Changing Optical drive for SSD in MBP

Hi, I have a MBP 13" mid 2011 and am looking to do the swap. After formatting the new disk and using either clone or super duper, how do I allocate the new SSD to become the default start up drive, thus relegating my current HDD to become storage only. I am just about to take the plunge but this is the only bit that I'm not sure about.
Appreciate any info out there
