Can't send emails

I have a 2010 imac and recently have been unable to send emails with my BT internet account. I can still receive emails.
How do I resolve this issue.

I take it you mean via Mac Mail and not the BT server.

There seems to have been many BT mail issues of late, so first question is are you able to send mail via other devises? If so then it could just be a setting error, if so check the settings and in particular that your user name and password are entered correctly at the outgoing server section.

If all is good then I would rebuild the mail box.
