Can't print from Adobe Acrobat

I have never been able to print anything from Adobe Acrobat. If I try I either get an error message that simply says I can't print, or Acrobat crashes. It has been this way since I bought my Mac Book Pro several years ago. No one at the Apple store could give me an answer, and just said I should print from Preview which is what I've been doing for years.

Does anyone out there have an idea how to fix this? I use OSX 10.6.8.

Acrobat Help / Can't print PDFs | Mac OS X 10.6 and later

What version of Adobe are you using? If applicable, update to version 9.1

Have you tried clicking on the PDF radio button in the bottom left of the print window, & selecting the Save As Adobe PDF?
