Can anyone please tell me why when I try to open any icons at the bottom of the screen on my Mac, I get a round rainbow disc bouncing up an down for quite awhile before I can open the app.

I am running Catalina ver 10.16.2 and the desktop is Late 2015

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi dennis,

I am running Catalina ver 10.16.2 and the desktop is Late 2015

Can you give us you HD free space and amount of Ram you have.

It’s official name is the Spinning Wait Cursor. All your Mac apps have a window server. So basically when an app receives more events than it can process, the window server automatically shows you the spinning ball.

And there are a few reasons for this . First, it can be a stand-alone issue with a certain app. Second, it could be faulty hardware or insufficient RAM.

To stop the beach ball just choose Force Quit from the Apple menu (or press cmd+alt+esc)

Hi,

First thing I would do is run Disk Utility to Repair Permission, and see what happens.
