I have a 2TB USB 3.2 gen 2 external drive. With a dual-boot configuration on my Mac (Ventura, Win10) what will offer the best performance?

a) Format the drive to exFAT so that it can be read by either system
b) partition the drive and then format the partitions independently so that each partition is optimized for its respective operating system
c) Something else

To fill in some blanks, here's how l want to use my system:

-Most of my work will be in the Mac OS (audio editing, video editing, Davinci Resolve, etc)
-I only want Windows for a few games that I enjoy
-Windows will likely be installed on the internal SSD on a small partition (maybe 150GB?) rather than booting from external drive.

For external drives that I need to access files from multiple OS'es I use exFAT and havent had any issues.
