Not for the first time . I switched from Windows 15 years ago but have had major trouble with apples "photos" ever since. Now I have no photo library ??? Why is that all of a sudden? Third time in all this time the damn library disappears. Why? My MacBook Air is up to date with latest iOS. I had not even added latest pics from iPhone yet and I get this message that there is no photos library. Sounds like I need to get a windows laptop purely for photos and quit using my Mac for photos. NEVER had an issue with Windows in ANY photos library yet here I am with issues for the 3rd time in 15 years. Somewhat a rhetorical question, but any info?

Hi Steve,

1st thing to check is to make sure that your Photos Library.photoslibrary is located in your Home Folder / Pictures/.

Then you need to click on the Photos icon and immediately hold down the Option Key.

A dialog box will pop up and you need to highlight your Photos Library.photoslibrary that is referenced above and select Choose Library.

If you don't see it in the list click choose other and locate it.

Next in Photos go to the settings and in the General tab click on the button that says Use as System Photo Library.

Restart photos and the library should open this and every time afterwards.
