Hello,
Happy holidays to all.

My APC UPS has apparently developed some problem (the 750 model)
New battery doesn't help.

Any thoughts on Cyber power vs APC these days re quality, etc. ?
Or,...?

BTW: Always a bit confused re Watts Vs VA.
To power 2 PC's and a lamp or so, what would you suggest as a minimum value(s) ?

Thanks,
Bob

Hello,

I have always used APC units personally, as do most of the data center I have been in. However, the CyberPower units get really good reviews/recommendations, equal to or exceeding the APC units.

How-To Geek - How to Select an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) for Your Computer

I would recommend individual units for multiple PCs, and wouldn't plug in anything other than the computer and peripherals. Also, laser printers are a basic no-no, as their power on surge can easily trip the breaker.

Hope that helps a bit,

Hi Cory,

As always, thanks so much for help.

Great article; I missed it. Really good; thanks.

Any idea if the Cyber power software plays nicely with an iMac ?
Auto Shutdown would be a nice feature to have

I am really upset about the short life I got out of the APC, and will undoubtedly
go with Cyber power this time around.

Happy Holidays, and thanks again,
Bob

I've had an APC UPS unit fail on me outside of the warranty, but as it was only a little out they serviced it free of charge anyway. After that sort of after sales, I ended up making my 2nd UPS unit another APC :).

May be worth contacting their support to see if anything can be done.
