Airport Extreme hookup

I have a iMac Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66GHz running 10.9.2 sitting beside an Airport Extreme 4th generation and a Arris 822G/T cable modem. I currently have a ethernet cable between the Airport and the Cable Modem and run the iMac internet wirelessly since the ethernet port on the iMac is bad.

My question is would I gain anything if I bought a USB to ethernet adapter so that I could plug the iMac directly in to the Airport? Comcast recently upgraded our internet to 100 mbps and I want to get all the benefit I can out of it.

No, these are notoriously bad on the Mac.
