5 year old MacBook says not charging while plugged in

I didn't use it for about 6 days. It was on sleep. Came home and works with plug in but isn't charging up and not receiving wireless signal. My IPad is working on wireless so I know that isn't the problem. I'm not tech savy so don't know what to do. Could it be the battery? The power cord is only about a year old. Help!

If its done, get it replaced as they can swell and damage your MacBook
