2019 MBP (A2141) black screen, but the backlight works.

I recently upgraded to Monterey, during the process my machine rebooted to a black screen. (backlight on, can control brightness with the touchbar)
I plugged in an external monitor and am able to use the machine. Display shows both the integrated and external displays.

Any thoughts?
