I have a program (Main Menu 1.7 (310)). It looks like a nice program. There are a couple options that I would like to run just to clean my system. Here are the ones that are in question:

Remove Temporary files
Flush Lookupd Cache
Remove .DS_Store files
Clean User Cache
Clean System Cache
Clean Font Caches
Remove Corrupt Preference files
Rebuild Spotlight index
Update Locate Database
Update Whatis Database
Rebuild LaunchServices
Update Prebindings
Redo Prebindings

I would like to run these cleanup wizards. The thing is, I don't want to crash my computer. Remember, you are talking to a former Windows guy here ;) Is it safe to execute these tasks? Thanks

Cheers from the deep snow :)

I use MainMenu on a regular basis, I use all the the options and have never had a problem. All of the options you listed will just clean things up and keep it running smoothly.

Hi all,

the only one to watch out for is 'Rebuild Spotlight index', once you have done this your computer may actually feel slower for a few hours whilst the Mac rebuilds all of it's search data.

Once it has done though, you should be good to go !

regards

Ric
