PLEASE HELP! Can't even get to my desktop! DL Capitan FAIL!

I tried to DL Capitan. I think I may not have had enough memory/storage. Now it keeps going to password screen, then to choose a language, then back to password. I can't get it to start up and my back up is not great...only pictures I think Please help! I have no idea what to do!!! I can't even get to the desktop!

First, what specific Mac model do you have?

Secondly, what OS were you using before El Capitan?

Third, after you downloaded OS 10.11 (El Capitan), what exactly did you do next?

Without a good backup, you could be in for some rough times. If the installation did not start, and you were on OS 10.10.5 (Yosemite), there is some hope. But, need definitive answers to the questions I stated above before we can proceed any further.
