Open and edit image in Inkscape with Automator

Hi,

I'd like to use Automator to perform the same workflow with a series of images:

- open image in programme Inkscape
- apply a filter (changing image colors)
- save image as .png

I am wondering if this is possible with Automator.

What I've tried:

1.) Record an own workflow.
The problem is, that I open one specific image and I cannot apply this to a number of pictures.

2.) Create an application.
I've tried to create an application from existing modules in Automator, but I cannot use specific functions of Inkscape.

Do you have a hint for me?

I haven't much experience with Automator/AppleScript. Maybe the folks over at MacScripter can lend a hand, or another member here will chime in.
