Mac not finding wifi printer

My Mac often cannot find the WiFi printer. If I turn the Mac off and then on it can find it. Is there something I can do other than reboot the Mac?

Some times. But that does not change it. The other day, after some time, the Mac decided that it could find the printer. Am not sure that will happen each time.

-Which model Mac?
-Which version of OS X?
-Which brand/model printer?
-Which brand/model wireless router?
-Is the printer set to sleep after a period of inactivity? If so, that could make the Mac lose connectivity.
