Issues from S command

Hello, I was given a password protected MacBook that I am trying to factory reset. previous owner does not have the password.
after I get to the s+command screen I get this (HID: Legacy shim 2) and (-sh-3.2#) when I press enter. please help!

  • Which version of OS X/macOS?
  • Is it an account login password or a firmware password prompt at startup?
