ipod sad face

hi,

my ipod does not switch on , it shows the sad face.i tried to restore it but,the comp does not detect it.can anyone pls help.

Here's an Apple document on just that:

iPod displays a sad iPod icon

Most of the one's I have heard of that display that icon need repaired/replaced if the restore/reset steps don't work.
