Hi,

I seem to be having a strange problem with my Imac. When I put something in the trash it automatically tells me that it will be deleted and do I want to continue. If I say yes, the file is deleted. Basically you can't put things in the trash and leave them there until you want to empty it.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Dominic

Hi there Dominic and welcome,

it sounds like you trash folder has either the wrong permissions or it is not there...

You should be able to correct it like this...

Open Terminal, Your hard Disk--> Applications--> Utilities folder.

At the prompt, type the following...

Code:
sudo rm -rf ~/.Trash

Be carefull with the line above...it should be typed as below !

sudospacermspace-rfspace~/.Trash

Press Return.

Enter your Admin password, press return and

then restart your Mac.

Let us know how you get on.

Hi Ric,

Many thanks for your reply.

I tried what you said but for some reason after I've put in the code you gave me it wont allow me to type in my password. In fact it won't let me type anything at all.

Any ideas?

Best wishes,

Dominic

Hi Ric,

I pressed return and it then asked for my password, but wouldn't allow me to type anything in at all.

Thanks,

Dominic

Hi Dominic.

when you type in the password...it doesn't appear and the cursor doesn't move.

Just type it in and press return.

regards

Ric
