Hi, I'm Steve I have been lurking on the site for a few weeks now and picked up some useful tips.
I have been a mac convert for a little over a year now. I got myself a MacBook Pro when I retired and loved it so much I then got a 27 inch iMac too.
My main hobby is sports photography and the iMac is great for editing my photo's on.
Anyway I hope that I can contribute on the site, as I say I am pretty new to Macs but I have been using PCs for decades :)

Welcome aboard, Steve! This is a great place to visit, with plenty of folks who are willing to try and help with issues.

It is best when you post an issue that you include the following:

1. Your exact iMac model.

2. The exact Mac OS you are using.

Also, hopefully you are 1) performing periodic disk cleanup/maintenance/repairs, and 2) doing "frequent" backups to an external device. For #1, there are some excellent freeware and commercial products available that can help you with those efforts. For #2, a number of folks use Apple's Time Machine, but I prefer SuperDuper! (a similar product is Carbon Copy Cloner).

In any event, good to have you here. (By the way, my wife and I are leaving Seattle this Saturday for a 3 week trip to London (9 days of that will be in the Canary Islands, where it is warmer), to visit our oldest son. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate!).

The weather here can be hit and miss at this time of year, I hope that it stays fine for you. The Canaries should be quite warm.

Yeah, that is certainly true. I looked at the forecast for London over the next 10 days, and it was not "bad", in fact, somewhat warmer than Seattle. The one thing I'll initially "miss" is that in the US, we go on Daylight Savings Time (ie, Spring Forward, the start of my favorite time of the year) on Sunday morning, March 12th. But in London (also in the Canary Islands, although they are closer to the equator, and I think just about all locations in Europe), that event does not happen until Sunday, March 26th. We'll be back in Seattle by then.
