How can I get rid of http://geek technologies.com. It won't let me send or receive email or let me get into any site. My Mac is completely locked up. I am using my iPad right now to try and get some help.

The message says.......

Security At Risk

Your PC has detected a virus attack on your browser. Contact customer support at 1-800-640-3506 toll free. My browser is Safari.

This has happened before with the same message but it went away after I shut my Mac laptop down but this time I can't get rid of it. Thank you.

Hello and welcome.

Try deleting this:

1. Close Safari
2. Click the Go menu in Finder and press Option key down then select Library
3. Open Saved Application State folder
4. Delete the file com.apple.Safari.savedState
5. Open Safari

Let us know if that doesn't fix it.

After first doing a google search for "How to get rid of the virus from geek technologies.com", I did not see anything directly helpful. But, when I did google search on the 1-800 number, I cam eup with this one:

http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-800-640-3506

Note the post about half way down by Mike-in-MD. In it, he mentions first force-quitting Safari (if you can do that), and then clearing out the cache and history information. This link further explains how to do it:

http://osxdaily.com/2014/11/28/clear-recent-web-history-safari-mac-os-x/

Additionally, may I suggest that you download two good free products that can help with situations like this? The first one is the virus detection/removal program called "ClamXav". You can get it from here:

http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/15850/clamxav

The other one is called "AdwareMedic". You can get it from here:

http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/52105/adwaremedic

Also, follow the steps stated by Cory above.

Good luck!

Honestone- Thanks a bunch for your help!!! While trying to find information on this "virus," I ran across the 2 programs u mentioned above. I tried to download them, but it kept saying I had no space available. I'm gonna try to do it right now! I really appreciate the information…
