finder not working

hi my finder is not responding at all, it wont let me open it or save any files this has being happening for months so i just stopped using my mac also my mac takes along time to booth and sometimes just stays on the loading screen any help

Could be your internal Hard Drive is full?

Check that if you're able to get to Desktop.

nothing shows up on desktop just the loading colour wheel

Try holding the Shift key while booting to start in Safe Mode ...
