Chrome infection

My ongoing plea (still not answered) is how can I take control of Mac security? There were more problems with PCs but at least you could scan and remove problems. Mac owners can basically turn the Firewall on and off. Yeay! Here's how well the Firewall is working and the Popup Blocker.

I have an iMac with Maverick 10.9.4. I can't use Chrome without popup warnings from Microsoft (immediate-support.com is one of two sites in various warnings) saying there is suspicious activity and I should call a number for a technician. The thing wont go away until I select - Stop this site from running scripts.

If your desperate for antivirus software have a look at Clam, it's not a real time program but very good.

I have never used chrome for various reasons but for pop ups and adds try ADblock it's a chrome extension so you should easily get it.

I went to AdBlock and another popup came up and said it was a scam to get your vital information, I think?? I don't know what's a legit warning and what's generated by the malware. Thanks for the lead.

Hi,

They are different engines, clam = antivirus not real time.
ADblock = pop ups and adds on web pages.
