Seems like whenever I connect to my Apple account on my Mac with Firefox I get a "Your Apple ID is being used to sign in to a new device", I'm offered a numeric code I need to type in on the same device (duh?), and hit TRUST. I just downloaded a photo from iCloud, and needed to do this, and then I went straight to another Apple site and it made me do it again. This is NOT A NEW DEVICE. I use it ALL THE TIME. Once I do this validation, what is making my device suddenly untrustworthy? Absolutely bizarre.

The repeated prompts for your Apple ID verification are often a result of Apple's security protocols, which can sometimes flag certain browsers or settings as unrecognized or new. Here are some steps to address this issue and potentially reduce the frequency of these prompts:

Potential Causes and Solutions

  1. Browser Settings:
    • Cookies and Cache: Ensure that Firefox is set to accept cookies from sites you visit and not to clear cookies and site data when Firefox is closed. Go to Preferences > Privacy & Security and adjust these settings.
    • Private Browsing: Avoid using private browsing mode for signing into your Apple ID, as it doesn’t save cookies and session data, making the device seem new each time.
  2. Two-Factor Authentication:
    • Apple’s two-factor authentication is designed to provide an extra layer of security. Each time you log in, it verifies your identity. Make sure you’re using a stable, secure internet connection.
  3. Check Apple ID Settings:
    • Trusted Devices: Ensure your Mac is listed as a trusted device. Go to System Preferences > Apple ID > Password & Security > Trusted Devices.
    • Sign Out and Sign Back In: Try signing out of your Apple ID on your Mac and then signing back in. Go to System Preferences > Apple ID, click Overview, and then Sign Out. Restart your Mac and sign back in.
  4. Firefox Security Settings:
    • Ensure that Firefox is not blocking any necessary components for Apple ID verification. Go to Preferences > Privacy & Security > Permissions and make sure no necessary services are blocked.
  5. Update Software:
    • Make sure macOS and Firefox are both updated to their latest versions, as updates often fix bugs and improve compatibility.

Additional Steps

  • Use Safari for Apple Services: If the issue persists, consider using Safari for accessing Apple services. Safari is more tightly integrated with macOS and may not trigger these prompts as often.
  • Contact Apple Support: If none of the above steps work, consider reaching out to Apple Support for further assistance. They can provide specific insights and solutions tailored to your Apple ID and device.
By ensuring that your browser settings and Apple ID configurations are properly set up, you should experience fewer prompts for verification.

easiest way around this is to use Safari to log into apple services. The 1st time you log in just tell it to trust your browser and you wont have any issues after that.
