I have an ibookG4 (system OS X v.10.3.9) that works great but is at capacity. I bought a new Macbook Pro and need help migrating or transferring files from the old machine to the new one. I have tried following directions in Migration Assistant, but it appears Migration Assistant needs a newer system, Mac OS X v.10.4.11, that I can't download. I can e-mail files but is there any easier way to do this?

Several ways to do this.

1) Add files to Jump Drive then copy from there
Jump Drives are getting quite large now and will hold a lot of files.

2) You could do it via Firewire, may need FW400 - FW800 cable
Just plug in your FW cable to both Macs and Start up your old Mac in Target disk mode (Hold down "T" key at startup) then your HD will show up on the new Mac. Just copy files over and then eject old HD.

3) Via Network if you have a router.
Just turn on File Sharing in the Sharing pane in System Preferences on old Mac.
On new Mac in finder Go Menu > network, connect to old HD and copy over.
Can do it via Wireless also in the same manner.
