Square of cyber trash around my cursor and all the icons on the screen

Hi. There is a square of cyber trash appearing around my cursor and all the icons on the screen. I first thought it was due to electrical interference or radio frequency interference but it appears that it's not the case. Recently, my kid introduced a USB key in the Mac and the problems seem to have started at that moment. We tried also checking with different applications (especially the Microsoft Office suite) but it doesn't seem to be the source of problem. Ever heard of that before ? What could possibly the source of that problem?

hi alainb, check in System Preferences ~> Universal Access and click on the "Seeing" Tab.

Check to see whether VoiceOver has been activated as this is the only thing I'm aware of that places squares around everything on the screen.
