Hi I'm fairly new to Apple and I have just had a text supposedly from Apple saying that my Apple ID has been locked due to too many unsuccessful logins. Please validate your Apple ID. The telephone number was 00447481343063 which I have searched for and which says is not a UK mobile number. Is this a scam of some sort?

Hello and welcome.

Yes, sounds like a scam to me. Apple would never contact you via a text about your Apple ID in that way. Are you experiencing any issues logging in with or using your Apple ID? You can test it by visiting iCloud. You could always login and change your password to be safe.

I have just logged into iCloud okay so hopefully nothing untoward has happened and I am deleting the text. Many thanks for your quick response.
