Problem with secondary click of Mighty Mouse

Can anyone help. When I open any folder and open a couple of things with the right click or two fingers on the mouse pad the folder closes, dishapears, then all the other folders on my desktop dishapear but return a few seconds later. It is most annoying. I do not lose any data but have to reopen everything then it happens again.:confused:
Help please. Running OSX 10.4.11. on MacBookPro. Been happening for two months.
