I really don't have any idea what could be causing this problem. Certain websites display what look like mathematical equations rather than text. I've tried a few browsers and I get the same result on the same sites. I use a G5 power mac with OS 10.4.11, I've never tried to change the language or anything like that. If anyone has any suggestions I would be very pleased to hear them.

Here's how I see Wikipedia:

Thanks.

Hi there,

have you installed any new fonts recently ?

Try turning off helvetica fractions in the font book, to see if that helps...if it's installed.

Thanks Ric,

I haven't installed any fonts recently. I have recently updated Firefox, which escalated the problem, but it was happening occassionally before.

I disabled Helvetica fractions and it helped a bit, some text is still displaying as numbers. In general, text in sidebars and headings seems to display as numbers whilst most body is displaying correctly now.

I would appreciate any further help you might be able to give.

Cheers.
