Powermac G4 startup

My powermac g4 now can't get past the initial startup...get's to the end of the blue loading bar and hangs...forever. Help!

Its a bit hard to tell, but given its age I say a failing Hard-drive, now with some corrupt system files.

If you can backup via another Mac nows the time! Start up in Target Disk mode.

Boot from the DVD and try a restore in place.

Then look at updating to a newer Mac, the G4s are very very old.
