its no secret i dislike os 9
but right now i have a old 6100 hotrodded with a G3 210 mhz card
its running os 9 which i think is too heavy for it
i finally managed to get my hands on os 8 and i was wondering if i could partition the 4 gig hd in 2 2 gig partitions with out having to detroy the partition table first
copy the files from one partition to another and then remove os 9 infavor for os 8

and if so how do i go about that ?

No, it will destroy all your data if your partition it.

You'll have to backup your files, then wipe it and start over with one or two partitions.

Hi there,

as old age kicks in I can't remember the names of OS 9 Apps, but I'm sure there are a few that will allow you to do a non destructive repartition...have a look on www.versiontracker OS9 section.

I have Drive Genius for OS X and that allows you to partition without losing data, but you are very wise to back up first.

Hi there,

I would look at getting an external Hard Drive Enclosure then you could just whip that drive out, throw it into the enclosure...plug it into one of your other Macs and back it up...
