mac mini won't boot off of a cd

my computer crashed and i tried to install the original system. at the end of the 2nd disc install, the disc failed, and was unable to finish the processl so...i got another set of install discs, and when i tried to boot the computer from that install disc, it keeps crashing. the screen goes black, and has a lot of writing on it ending with sonething like waiting here. what now????

Hi there and welcome,

What happens if you restart holding down the x key ?

If that doesn't work can you boot into single user mode... restart holding down the command key and the s key.
