Hi, i've been having a lot of computer problems the past couple of weeks,

I got an Samsung LCD 206BW 20" monitor a couple of weeks ago and i've been using it with my PC, and it's been working fine. I had to order a cable to connect the digital screen cable to my G4 ibook. So i got that in the mail today and hooked it up, but it's not working for me. I called Samsung when i got the monitor just to make sure that it's compatible with macs and they said it's just plug and play. So i don't know if there's something wrong with the VGA cable connector or if i have to set something up on the mac?

I thought macs were supposed to be more user friendly than pcs, so far i'm not convinced...

Hi Rena,

Have you looked in System Preferences>Displays? I haven't tried connecting an external monitor to my Macbook, but most likely you will have to tell it which display to use. Hope that helps.

Hi Muirdach,
yeah, i've looked in system pref>displays, which is where it would make sense to have something, but all it's got is screen resolution and colour profile, nothing about setting up screen connections
