iPhone SDK Question

hey everyone,

I don't come here a lot, usually just when I have a question or and wondering something. And that is just the case. Today I am wondering about the free iPhone SDK. If I download the free version and don't apply for the developer's thing, can I put the applications I make on my iPhone, or is it just make me able to build them?

Just one more thing to throw out there just in case... dont you need Xcode installed first before you install the iPhone SDK?
