hi,

i am using a powerbook g4 (1 ghz powerpc g4) with mac os x 10.4.8. i have a dvd stuck in the internal dvd drive and the system cannot recognize the drive. i get the following error:

"there was an initialization error. a valid dvd drive could not be found [-70012]."

i get that message when i try to run the default "DVD Player.app".

how can i eject the dvd and get my dvd drive working again?

thanks a bunch!

Hello dbdiaz and Welcome!

Did you get your DVD out of the drive? Are you all set now?

Hello, unless there's something blocking your drive's tray, this AppleScript should work. In addition, you might want to try shutting your Mac down and when you start it back up again hold the mouse clicker down.

I am having the same problem, and nothing has worked so far. Restarted. Turned off and turned back on. Held clicker down while restarting. Held eject down while restarting. Tried the tray eject file... but not sure if I'm using it right?
Please please help me!
