Hi All,

I purchaced another iMac yesterday. When i turn it on i get this very high pitched very fast beeping noise. It's not the speakers because I have tried them i think it may be the Hard Drive. Don't hold me to that though, because I really dont know!

Here is the iMac's spec ( it may be able to help ):

17" TFT Screen
2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo ( Processor )
1GB 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM ( Memory )

I really hope you guys can help! Thanks in advance!

Does it fully boot up?
Is there pattern to the beeps 1beep
2 beeps .... I read that these kind of beeps indicate ram problems of one kind or another. If it is just out of the box I would take it back to the seller or to an Apple store if you are near one. It should be under warranty.

1 beep = no RAM installed
2 beeps = incompatible RAM types
3 beeps = no good banks
4 beeps = no good boot images in the boot ROM (and/or bad sys config block)
5 beeps = processor is not usable
