When one installs iLife '09 the member applications, GarageBand, iDVD,
iMovie, iPhoto, and iWeb are installed directly into the Applications
folder, but when one installs iWork '09 the member applictions,
Keynote, Numbers, and Pages are installed in a containing folder titled
    "iWork '09".

This came to my attention yesterday as I attempted to download the
update to Pages which includes the ability to export a document in the
ePub format. It seems that a few months ago I moved the three iWork '09
applications out of the containing folder, an action that had no
adverse effect until yesterday as the updater was looking for that
folder. Restoring the folder and moving the applications into it did
the job and the updater worked fine.

So I'm curious as to why Apple chose to have this packaging
inconsistancy for these two application suites.

My bad, my bad, my bad....

my opening posting in this thread was meant to go only to
comp.sys.mac.apps, but I somehow overlooked that it was being
crossposted. I've suggested to Panic that they include a crossposting
warning in Unison, the newsreader I'm using, that would bonk idiots
    like me on the head!

    I'm mildy curious too.

I'll note that it mimics the behavior of MS Office on macs - that too
installs as one folder with the separate applications contained in
    that folder.
