I put in a new and bigger hard drive and combo drive into my G4 ibook. Combo seems to work fine, at least it is running the OSX dvd. But the new 100GB hard drive isn’t showing up in Disc Utility, so I can't format it. I took it apart again and checked all the connections. Still no good. I can feel the new HD spinning, so I know it is getting power. Any suggestions?

Hi LewArcher and welcome. You haven't specified the manufacturer of the new internal HD so at this stage I'm left wondering if the HD is compatible with your iBook G4 ...

The HD is a Seagate. I was told that it will fit into some powerbooks and ALL ibooks.
I have another question for you- will ibook g3 outer cases fit onto the g4 ibook? I would like to use the g3 cases as I can strip off the white paint and paint then a different color.
