iBook G3 won't read or mount any DVD!

I am running a iBook G3 600Mhz. With a combo CDR/RW-DVD-ROM drive. I put a DVD in the drive and wait. I can hear it trying to read it but after a few minutes it pops any DVD, burned or store bought, right out. I have been searching far and wide for a solution to this problem. If you have any suggestions please let me know. Thanks!

Hi there and Welcome !

Have you got your original System Software CD's DVD's...

What version of OS X are you on ?

Depending on what version you have (let us know) there should be a 'Hardware Test' 'Disk'. If we can find that and run it it should let us know whether it's the DVD laser...

im running 10.3.9 and no i lost all my discs moving this past fall.

Hi there,

Do you know anyone that you can borrow one off ?

That way we can use the Hardware diagnostics to check the DVD laser...

You could also try and create a new user account, and try to see if DVD's will mount in that account...
