This might be a strange question, but I wondered-how do you make avatars with Macs? I've learned to make movies on IMovie HD (trial and error, baby!) Lol But is that how I make an avatar? If so, how do I host it? I just switched from PC.

Yes, like an avatar for forums. I know how you're saying a graphics program, but making an animated one? Which program would be best?, do you think?

Hi there,

you can have a look here there may be a few cheaper apps that will help you build some Animated Gifs...

If you would like a tutorial for creating them I am sure I will be able to knock something up...

Go

Actually, ImageReady is better suited for animated GIF files than Photoshop. Also, GraphicConverter can do animated GIFs.

Stone Design has a freeware app called GIFfun that looks promising as well.

...I have added a few Avatars to this website...go to your "User Control Panel" and then select "Edit Avatar"...

Just a few there for now...will add more later !

If anyone wants a specific 'theme' added let me know or email me some (royalty/copyright free) Avatars and I will add them in...

I've been trying to make avatars, too, with very limited success. I have Mac OS X version 10.4.7 with no system folder... I've used Preview but when I get the file size down (6GB) the quality goes way down. I don't have a digital camera so iPhoto doesn't seem to work. Can anyone recommend a small, manageable graphics software program, maybe Shareware? I just want to make some simple avatars. Thanks for any advice!

Cheers, from

Yay! I've made this site my homepage!

I have a MacBook (not Pro), new Intel one. My first Mac was an SE in the 80's and I've had many others down the line but have been computerless for almost eight years. Macs have changed some since then!

I'd like to do simple avatars, down to 6GB if possible, maybe animated ones later? I'd also like to play around with photos I've had put on disk but am not ready for PhotoShop yet (cost and complexity).

Not addressing copyright.

In Safari click on the avatar and drag it to the desktop.
