How do I check that a wireless fault isn't at my end before I contact my ISP?

Hi, sorry about the long thread title.

I'm running a G4 Desktop 1.42 gb PowerPC powermac OSX .4.10.

Until recently I've had no problems with my wireless connection but in the last week I've been unable to connect to my BT homehub at least three times. When this has happened I've gone to system preferences/ internet connect and it says that my Airport is turned on but is not recieving any signal.

Are there any other things I can try in order to ascertain whether the problem is with my computer before I contact BT (my ISP) about it?
For instance, could my airport card be faulty and is there some way to check it?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
