HI,
A couple of weeks ago my 80GB hard drive failed on my G4 mac powerbook. I bought it two years ago but since that time it has been unused and boxed in its original packaging for most of that time (I went travelling for a year).
So it has only been used for about 6-8months of that time!
Whilst trying to fix the problem I came across this link:
http://www.macintouch.com/readerreports/powerbookg4/topic2809.html
Seems I am not alone in having problems- post on Jan 19th 2006 is particularly worrying. I hope this helps people trying to get some compensation from apple or helps them decide on whether to extend their warranty!
Another worrying point (see post 28th Jan 2006) is that the drives should have a 3 YEAR warranty but neither Apple or Toshiba will honour it! They just play the old "Pass the Buck" game!
Could anyone who has had similar problems reply to help us get compensation?
Thanks,
Dom.
