Hi I am getting a blank grey rectangle box on the top centre of my MacBook desktop screen.
I tried changing zoom options, force quitting Finder (relaunched) and also killall dock command on terminal but nothing works.
Can someone suggest how I can get rid of it as it is obstructing my view?
Thanks in advance!

Hello and welcome.

Haven't ever seen that I must say.

-Does this persist after a restart?
-Does it only happen when Safari is open/running?

It may be some third-party Safari Extension, user Startup Item, or malware.

I'm also getting this bizarre grey rectangle in top centre area of my MacBook Pro screen. It just started happening a few days ago. It only goes when I close all my apps and re-boot the computer. I don't know how it appears - just suddenly does when I'm in the middle of a task - usually downloading something from the internet, like photos I've had scanned.

It does look like a Stage Manager window. I’m wondering what menu items you have on the upper right corner of the screen. Try booting in Safe Mode. If it does not come up, the problem is probably related to a startup app or background process.

Or you can try force-quitting running apps one by one until it goes away with a particular app that you closed.
